Rajaton Concert Sunday, May 2nd, 4 PM at Dominion Chalmers Church, Ottawa. Rajaton was founded in Helsinki in 1997 by six talented Finnish singers, each experienced in choral or solo singing and yet with diverse musical backgrounds. Their musical repertoire is vast and varied, ranging from sacred music to pop and from folk music to contemporary concert music. Most of the singers have studied singing either at the prestigious Sibelius-Academy or at the Pop/Jazz Conservatory in Helsinki. Rajaton is a phenomenon in Finland, and the world has taken notice. They won first prize at the Tampere Choir Festival in 1999. Their album Maa, released in 2007 and featuring their own music, was awarded Top World/Folk Album as well as Top World/Folk Song of the year by the Contemporary a Cappella Society of America (CASA). They perform over 100 concerts a year, and have one double platinum, two platinum, and eight gold records in Finland to their credit. The Ottawa Children's Choir is bringing this group to Ottawa with the support of CFF Ottawa and the Embassy of Finland. Join us for what promises to be a delightful afternoon of vocal performance. Rajaton is known for the beauty of their music, their passion for singing, and their reverence for the beauty of the human voice. The Embassy of Finland will be holding a reception at the Ambassador's residence in honour of Rajaton following the concert. We have a limited number of tickets available for this reception, and they will be provided to the first 50 purchasers of concert tickets.
