<p>Hi All: Can I draw your attention to an English-language novel that tells a lot about life in Finland? It´s called The Finn´s Tale and recounts the experiences of a third generation American-Finn, Len Makinen, who re-establishes contact with his Finnish relatives and visits Finland to meet them. There is a story as well, of course, but in the course of the narrative Len´s experiences, the places he sees, the conversations he has, reveal a lot about Finnish culture, nature, customs, food,…</p>
<p>Hi All: Can I draw your attention to an English-language novel that tells a lot about life in Finland? It´s called The Finn´s Tale and recounts the experiences of a third generation American-Finn, Len Makinen, who re-establishes contact with his Finnish relatives and visits Finland to meet them. There is a story as well, of course, but in the course of the narrative Len´s experiences, the places he sees, the conversations he has, reveal a lot about Finnish culture, nature, customs, food, geology, history, art and so on. The Finn´s tale is actually the story of Len´s second cousin, starting from her childhood in the 60s on Lake Päijänne. Len sees it as idyllic, a kind of lost Eden, but as the story unfolds he learns that there is a dark side, too.</p>
